By partner, I'm assuming you mean a serious live in g/f. If you have lived togather long enough, it may imply a common law marriage, depending on where you live. Even if the bills are in her name, you benefitted from the use of the utilities, etc., so you should be responsible for half. Most courts now recognise a woman paying the bills, but not rent, as her obligation to provide for the household. Then again, she may get away with it all. It would take a judge, or attorney to tell you the exact answer.

No, she can only get away with it if you let her. You are doing the right thing to offer her half of the bills.

only if you let her....i would set an agreement based on half if thats fair but also include half of the outstanding debt. you should balance the business for a given day and call that the buyout day.

Hard to say , has she been a home body? Not working? Have you talked to your attorney? She should be reliable for 50 % of those bills anyway.

If the bill is in her name then she is legally responsible for settling it. Unless she files bankruptcy or an IVA.
