17. 4/9 x = 1 1/3
First ,convert the 1 1/3 to a single fraction by multiplying the denominator by the whole number and adding it to the numerator.
Second, multiply both sides by 9/4 as this will isolate the x on one side of the equation.
The equation will look like this x = 4/3 * 9/4
Third, Multiply the two fractions and you will have your answer to the equation.
Fourth, plug your answer in to where the x was in the original equation to check it.

17. you need to solve for x in other words what do you multiply 4/9'ths by to get 1 1/3 to do this we need to get some like terms going so we can do it easier. so we convert 1 1/3 into a simple fraction like this.

4/9x = 3/3 +1/3
4/9x= 4/3

Next we divide 4/3 by 4/9 to get x alone on one side.

x = [4/3] / [4/9]

now remember (i hope) that dividing a fraction by a fraction is the same as multiplying by the reciprocal so our division problem becomes a multiplication problem like this..

x= [4/3] * [9/4]

now we multiply top by top (numerator by numerator) and bottom by bottom (denominator by denominator) which gives us..

x= [4*9] / [3*4]
x= 36/12

reduce the fraction
x=3

I dont have time right now to answer the others but I will look you up later.. okay??

take a look at #19. you need a fraction that fits between 10 and 11. Do you know how to make a fraction? / . The bottom number will be 11 and anything below 11 will be the right answer. you can do the same for # 20.
