It SHOULDN'T be, but you never know what other people will think. If this is a real concern for you, then consider the presentation.
A nice container, with tastefully decorated wrapping can make a big difference in how people will perceive the gift. One of the neatest gift baskets I ever received was an assortment of ingredients to MAKE several pasta dishes.
I had more fun preparing the food than I might have if the person just cooked something and gave it to me.

I don't think so. I think so much more thought goes into homemade gifts than just running to the store and buying something.

Not at all! Homemade gifts may be less expensive, but you are putting more of yourself into them. Most people are appreciative of your thoughts, and if they aren't, they probably are not people you want to be worrying about getting gifts for anyway!

I think people are appreciating homemade gifts again. I for one am over saturated on the commercial end of Christmas. I'm making cookies and cakes for office and friends this year. I am doing special projects for my family. Like reproducing old family photo albums so that my sister has a copy for herself.

No it wouldn't you are putting a lot of time doing this and it out of love so it would be special to me to get homemade food. I think that is so sweet hardly ever hear people doing that anymore.

No; i love to get homemade foods. I used to give homemade gifts to my friends and their kids. I'd knit sweaters for the kids.

No, my grandparents recently started doing this instead of buying gifts for all the grandkids. They make homemade donuts, fudge, and gingerbread men, and send it along with a little christmas decoration or ornament. I made sure to let them know how much I enjoyed it and appreciated it!

It is a wonderful idea. Something that you make yourself is so much more thoughtful than buying something ready-to-give that the person may begrudge you for. Rarely will you be held in disregard for giving eatable food gifts.

I have a lot of family and friends that we are not real close to but still so I like to bake brownies and pumpkin bread cookies and put them in a basket or container that we got at the dollar store~that and a card. Its inexpensive but it is nice.
