first off, it's RING, not KING...... and dude, what are you smokin' fool? wait 2years? u kidding? that's a stupid deal from the Padres's side....Liriano is a STARTING pitcher, keep that in mind...both Ring & Bell are RELIEVERS...relievers are JOURNEYMEN...they don't stay with teams for very long and don't have much value unless they're CLOSERS. plus, Ring can't keep his weight off... Ben Johnson will be a star for years to come, the two jokers Padres got will be out of the organization in 2 years...JOURNEYMEN -look it up

I'm surprised the Padres would deal Johnson for a disappointing first-rounder like Ring and a journeyman in Bell.

Baseball America had Johnson ranked as the Padres' fourth-best prospect this past season, and he was their best minor league player in 2005. He had a somewhat disappointing AAA season in 2006, but he held his own after being called up this season. The only thing I can think is that they feel he's not going to get any better, but who knows?

It seems to me that the Mets got the better of the deal, since they got a guy who has a shot at a bright major-league future, which is more than I can say for either of the pitchers they dealt in exchange.

And for the guy who said that we should wait a few years to evaluate the deal - When the Giants traded for A.J. a few years ago, there were many fans who thought they'd given up way too much and would live to regret the deal, as they have. Most serious baseball fans know enough about minor leaguers to at least speculate about their futures.

Its Royce Ring. I'm a Mets fan, I dont care about this trade really. Heath Bell and Ring are mediocre. I dont know who the other guys are.

Shouldn't these players have to matter in MLB before we can evaluate this trade? Wait 3 years and you'll have your answer.

Remember, the Giants and Twins made a trade a few years ago with the Giants getting catcher AJ Pierzinski...and giving up RP Joe Nathan, SP Francisco Liriano, and SP Boof Bonser. You cant evaluate a trade with minor league talent until at least 2 years later.
