The above answer is the most thorough, but as a former castmember, I am going to urge you to NOT bother applying. It is vastly underpaid, you will be overworked and not appreciated. Any "magic" that you may find at Disneyland now (as a guest)... you will completely lose, in working there.
The turnover rate is very high and the quality output by the castmembers (staff) is generally low. You will not be working with the brightest crayons in the box and if you attend school - forget it. You must be FULLY available to Disneyland. They expect to be your priority at all times. If their scheduling conflicts with your outside schedule (be it school, doctor's appointment, funeral of a family member, a debilitating car accident that causes you to be unable to walk, etc.)... they don't care.
Just don't do it. It's not worth the trouble, I promise.
(And yes, the school, funeral, and car accident situations apply to my personal experiences... and yes, I have an annual pass to Disneyland and still go. I still love the company, but I would not encourage anyone to work there.)
