I prefer what we call light science fiction and some people call fantasy. Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey is an excellent example. It's a lost colony that's regressed and not a fantasy world at all.
Light science fiction is usually a character driven novel with some science, but it's not the main focus of the story. Swords are ok. In hard science fiction, the science is a major part of the story. True fantasy has magic and magical creatures.

Fantasy definitly!! You can see everything in a new light and let your imagination come to life!! It's so much more fun. But my second choice would be realistic fiction because i like to have books and stories to relate to whats going on and that im not the only one with this type of life. But any genre is good if you've got the right materials.

I love to read thriller and mystery books like Stephen King novels but then those less "actiony" type ones like "The Da Vinci Code" also strike my attention.

I probably read more mystery than anything else but I also like historical fiction, sci-fi and some horror-psychological thriller.
