Depends in which country. In Romania fro ex. even a convicted paedophile can adopt.
But your crim. record will be a problem anyway....
P.S Even though....crime is a crime!
The adoption authorities wants "perfect people". That's why is so hard to adopt a child.

I would consult an attorney before I do anything else. Save your self a lot of grief and money by getting the real answer from a professional.
