Why should I vent my (supposed) frustration? Don't need to. I have a healthy outlook on life and my responsibilities as a mother, housekeeper, worker and student. I'm not frustrated.
Busy, but not frustrated.
I think you may be frustrated. :)
Have you got a woman in your kitchen and the bedroom at the moment?? No?? Wonder why
:)

Those are only places for women if that's where they want to be. Some women feel content to be housewives (which is fine, if that's what they want), and others feel content to go out into the workforce (which is fine, too). I happen to be the latter, and I also happen to consider myself a feminist. Perhaps when men or women make this sort of comment, they are only repeating what they have been taught, or what they are expected to say. Or, maybe by saying this, a man thinks that he really does have control over a woman's actions. However, it's a gross generalization and an insult to women everywhere. My fiance makes this statement sometimes, but he's always joking. If he ever meant it, I wouldn't be with him.
After reading some of these other comments, I can see the points of view, but it makes me sad to see such a lack of unity among women, whatever their opinions are, in such a mostly patriarchal world.

I think woman have a very important place in the kitchen and the bedroom but there are more important things in life -
....woman are equal to men, but feminists shouldn't act like there above men just because some men treat them not as there equal.
Women are just as guilty as men when it comes to being chauvinistic -
Everyone should just accept some people are ignorant and move on.

Then who would mow the lawns, programme the TV and VCR, change the washers on the taps, check the oil in the car and pay the bills because my husband can't do any of these things. I think I might enjoy the rest if the only things I had to do were in the Kitchen and Bedroom.

Hmmm...what some enjoy calling "competing against women" boils down to "getting tired of trying to find one". Not many women left in this country, I'm afraid...mostly genetic women who insist on behaving like men.
What is truly sad is that the women who say men are afraid of competing with them are the ones guilty of trying to compete with men as a man...instead of being the women they were born to be. That's what feminism will do to you, folks...and in the end, nobody is happy.

If you are in that sort of relationship or surround yourself with men who hold those beliefs.......... then you need to sort your life out.
Not all men think that way... although there may be some, and there may be some women who even feel that way. So those types of people should certainly hook up - they'd have a lot in common!
:o)

i'm less angry about that chauvanistic B.S. than i am about women having so many roles in today's society... it was easier when you knew you were supposed to be in the kitchen, whereas nowadays, we have to work, take care of kids, be a good lover, clean the house, do the laundry, cook, balance the finances, plan everything and we're supposed to be organized and perfect and look like Pamela Anderson while we're at it! that's what I'm fed up about!!! why don't men do that stuff too, or try to help? or show an interest in being a true 'partner' and share some damn responsiblities of life!!

I think women have cheated themselves by taking on full time jobs and having children. I think it is wrong for women to work and have a child. One should raise their children themselves and care for their husbands and take care of their home and cook nice meals for their family. Frankly our society has lost its feminine nature due to women giving up their important rolls as mothers, wives and home makers. Go ahead and work if you don't want kids. But its ruined our society that our children do not have mothers. They mostly have tow working dads. Two men running the house hold is an imbalance of energy. Women become actually liberated and give the men back their cooperate jobs and ugly suits. Lets be women. The quality of sugar is sweet and the quality of salt is salty . If sugar is salty then it is not sugar. The quality of women is compassion, love, nurturing, shyness, yes shyness. Women have lost much of these qualities trying to be men. What's wrong with being a real woman.
