If its spinning like the starter check the starter, And Why,..Have the top end redone if you or the mechanic knew there wasn't any compression?? Lot of money thrown away, something isn't right you don't rebuild half an engine. But worse case buy a short block you have a new top end.

We purchase old automobiles all of the time and battery themes continuously arise. Heres are 2 recommendations that should help save it beginning & what it ought to be. One automobile wasn't pushed in the winters & if left it to long without using would not initiate the two. So each few days i might initiate it for a jiffy. If I waited longer then that i might wish a bounce. i might in simple terms attempt this if i grew to become into you. yet another automobile would not initiate & had to be jumped each morning. After paying for 3 new batteries we found out the Antenna grew to become into the reason. by some ability draining the battery. We disconnected the antenna and have not had a project on account that. probable no longer what's inflicting your project yet purely a heads up that something small like that should be what's incorrect.

Low compression would make it hard to start, but not impossible. The whining sound is probably your starter bendix drive. Replace your starter. If you had recently had the heads redone, maybe you have a gasket leaking for loss of compression.

No compression in 5 cylinders? Did you do a compression check? Wow, they forgot to do something major! Surely they put in the head gaskets. Either way you'll need to take it back, Sounds like you have major problems. Do you know if you have a timing belt? I can't remember if those had belts or chains. If your belt slipped it could cause loss of compression.

wow carly...

anyways...did it have no compression before? how many miles? you may have bad valves...if it had no compression right after the heads were redone then it's probably valves, maybe the timing is off or something.

sounds like the distrubutor is off 180 degrees. take it out and restab it. make sure cylinder #1 is top dead center.

The timing chain was hooked up installed incorrectly, and the valves are opening when they aren't supposed to.
