Yes I did, more than once when I was a teenagwer, but only to go to some friends' house at something like 20 minutes from where I lived. Strangely enough, it probably was riskier back then, but I would be more scared now.

Yes, but just across town or around town - but one Thanksgiving I hitched from Cleveland to Toledo (approx. 120 mi.)
I've also been hit by a car doing it (still got scar, 30 yrs later)

Tried to when in highschool, "for fun". After trying for about 20 minutes, this guy stops to pick us up. We're thinking we're really cool, excited. We were trying to get to the next town to see a movie. Guy took us directly to my brother's apartment. (he knew who I was) my brother ranted and raved about how stupid and unsafe our actions were. We felt horrible, we were crying.Took me back to my parents and never said a word. What a great big brother!

Yes, I was going home but it was a very long walk so I caught I ride when someone offered one.
