I just got my beta test back confirming I'm pregnant, but my HCG is only at 43. I should be about 5 weeks along. The doctor wants to retest my levels on Sunday to see if they have dropped. Has anyone ever successfully given birth when HCG levels were so low?

Not necessarily, however if they drop you should be concerned. I've had two miscarriages and the first one I didnt have my hcg checked, but with the second one it started low and then continually dropped. With my son's birth, the levels were borderline but went up from there.

Hi Kristi, I personally haven't, but I have seen success stories online on various websites. If your dcotor retests your levels and the numbers double every 48 hours, it's progressing along nicely. If it drops, you most likely experienced a "chemical pregnancy" and you won't experience much more than a heavy period as you're so early.

I wish you the best of luck. I'm around 6 weeks myself, coming off of a recent m/c, and the constant testing and worrying is very nerve wracking.

hey, to be truthful with you with your HCG levels being low like that MY doctor told me that you still have a chance of carrying the baby fine although IF they drop hun then I would worry. My doctor and I let mine ride it's way at although it was NOT the outcome that I wanted. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP see what your next one is first before you worry like I said because they are low doesn't mean a thing.
