Try to look over some well-known websites where experts compare and give their own commenties on some TFT monitors. Try:
-PC World.com
-www.about.com (it's one of the most useful sites on the net to look for anything you need to know)
-PC Format.com
-CNET.com (same site)
-type in keywords such as "Monitor comparison" in search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, Altavista, Lycos, Bonweb...etc.

I'm currently using a Phillips monitor, and I'm very satisfied with it. Beautiful colors, the graphics aren't pixely, sharp, and I could even use it for playing games with it. I think the picture quaity of Sony TFT monitors are the best, because they are crystal clear, sharp, and have beautiful colors, but I don't have any experience with Sony monitors. However when buying a monitior, always check for the naturality of its colors, how sharp the image is that is reproduces, and how fast it refreshes the images per second.
