You definitely have to be creative and think outside the box. Many museums and tour companies would love having a history major on their team. You could hire out as a tutor for high school or college students. You could write, and be your own employer that way. But the coolest job I saw for history buffs was this summer when I was riding the train cross-country. The "Trails and Rails" program by Amtrak hired several different experts on the Lewis and Clark Trail and on regional history to board the train and ride it for several hours, teaching passengers about history or giving living-history demonstrations. Wouldn't it be cool to get in on that--either as a guide or a consultant for the program! Hope you are able to pursue your dreams and find happiness.

Hi there,
I really like this question.....
A lot of people really do not understand the importance and relevance of history....
There are as many facets to history as a finely cut diamond; Sociology, Paleontology, Geology, Astronomy, Political Science etc....
Truly, the possibilities are endless.....
You have a macro-cosmic intelligence and are capable of seeing the "Big Picture"....
Choose any sector that interests you most and pursue it with fervor....
Everything in existence is inextricably linked to history, one way or another.
Good luck!!

dont do it... the market is in low demand for a history major, unless you get a masters or a phd. A BA in history is not very useful
