Actually, Pappa Smurf almost had it right. However, if you UNINSTALL your onboard graphics, Windows will promptyly reinstall it for you, the first time you restart or turn your computer on. And if Windows can't remember where it "stored" the files, that's worse, because it will then hound you to reinstall the driver every time you turn your computer on.
Do everything he said, just like he said to do it, once you've clicked on the Hardware tab, then click on Device Manager. Once Device Manager has opened, and you've clicked on the plus sign (+) next to Display Adapters, then right-clicked on your onboard graphics, left-click on Disable.

some BIOS do not help you disable the onboard video. you'll only could set the memory to the bottom placing , frequently about 8mb. All BIOS disable the onboard video even as they bump into an addon video card. Press F2 at boot to enter the BIOS.

Enter the BIOS setup as the computer boots. Usually do this by pressing the escape key or delete keey when you first see the BIOS message.
One of the options should relate to on-board functions. Disable the video here.

Right click on "My Computer" go down to "properties" select the "hardware" tab then click on "display adapters" right click on the adapter it shows & choose "uninstall". It will ask if you want to restart your computer to make the changes....Select NO because if it restarts, it will re-install the same devise you just uninstalled. So you want to shut your computer down then install the new graphics card and start up you computer as normal, it will ask you for the driver disc. Put it in if you have it, if not find the driver on driverguide.com before you start and save it to your hard drive so it will be ready when your computer asks for it.

Most MB's will honor the agp card or pci card when installed. If not go into the bios. Do this at the boot screen. Hit whatever key it says for setup.. Probably find it in integrated peripherals. Good luck.
