What is love? Is it a force of nature which evolved with Man, designed merely to prolong the continuation of our species, to keeping mates together against all odds so we can nurture and cherish our offspring? Or is it a divine power bestowed on us, that transcends life itself?

Why do you ask a broad question with a rainbow of answers and then offer a polar answer of science vs. religion.
There are many kinds of love, and they have multiple purposes and reasons or lack there of.
Mother/Child
Sister/Brother
Two Best Friends
A Student and their favorite teacher (hopefully not sexual)
Love for ancestors, deceased.
Love of Artworks and their artists.
etc.
Love is undefinable, because each love is distinct, different, and unique. Hate and Love are not mutally exclusive. You can hate and love some one. This is often the case.
I'm gay, but love lots of women.

Well lets just see Love is a powerful feeling that you cant control. It is something that is not seen but you can feel. It is the strongest bond between two people that can hardly get broke if it is true love. Love will make people do crazy and unexplainable things. It is powerful and you dont even realize that it is there until its gone. Love is great and you should embrass it not deny it. Go for love.

First God is Love, then he said it is not good for man to be alone so He made a woman. There are different types of love , but we as people generally deal with 3; Phila, eros and Agape.
phila is love of family
Eros is intense desire to be with someone
Agape is the love of The Highest Power Generally GOD!!!

I lie here wondering... What is true love?
Could it be like heaven, in the skies above?
Is true love good or bad?
Does it make you happy or sad?
What is true love?
Does true love hurt your heart?
Does it make you feel you have to go back to start?
Is it worth the tears that tremble down your face?
Do you make sure that it always holds a special place?
What is true love?
Do you sit and wonder why
People must come along and make you cry?
Does it make you run back and forth
Until one day you end up in court?
Does it make you feel like you don't want anybody
except that special someone?
But what if that special someone already has a someone?
Is It still true love?

Not sure.
LUST is the force of nature.
I don't know what love is or how to keep it or how to make it.
Good question. It does transcend life itself. I feel so much love for some folks that I would die for them. Why? I don't even know.

Love is a decision. It can be influenced by emotions, but shouldn't be, and our emotions can make it easier to love someone but should never determine whether we love them. Love is a decision to be patient, kind, not envy, not boast, not be proud, to not be rude, self-seeking, or easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs. It always protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres.

Divine power.
It can descend on you against your will, against reason, against all your better judgment, and take over your mind, body and soul.
An irresistible force, that transcends everything.

Lust, Romance and Love and three different things. Lust is biological. Romance is social. Love is from God.
