It really depends what you want from the holiday. Old Town is good if you want to party but can be quite noisy and busy, especially in summer but then of course, the new town is outside of the main attractions.

Viktorija Hotel is nice, around £40 a night for a suite but there are lots of hostels in Riga. City Hostel is a hostel right in the heart of the Old Town on Elizabetes Street (which is one of the busiest streets, full of hostels). City Hostel is around £20 but you can of course get much cheaper.

A good budget hotel option, if you are two+ is Hotel NB 10 min by tram. If you travel alone hostel is the best budget choice.

Problem in Riga is that, mainly because being a Ryanair hub, they are short of hotels/accommodation so the prices are higher than in any other city in the eastern Baltic states.
