Because their diet is totally different, and it's only a little bit at a time, where as an adults poo-there's usually a lot more of it. A babies tract will fill up and empty quickly, where an adults tract can be filled up more before having to expell.

Babies only drink milk. Once they start eating solids, it gets more stinky. If you breast feed an infant, their poop smells even less strongly than if you give formula. The reason is simple, adults eat so many unnatural unnecessary things each day that need to be disposed of. Babies use almost everything they eat, and what they eat is all natural, no preservatives or sweeteners.

I don't know. I've changed some pretty smelly diapers. It's due to that fact that babies aren't eating all of the different foods that adults eat though. Digestive process is less complex.

a baby is not on solids yet........ so digest faster and so less bacteria develop in their poo so smells less.
but if the baby has constipation (quite common in babies) or an upset tummy it can have an opposite effect.

Because babies haven't yet learned to put all the junk in their bodies that we adults do.
