A bit of both.

In chemistry class, we use metric exclusively. Doesn't make any sense to do anything else.

But other classes (some in Physics, and many engineering classes, and even some of the pre-medical courses) still use the English/ Imperial units at times.

In most sciences class in the United States, especially at the college level, metric / SI units are used. That is not to say that the imperial units are totally ignored, however SI is the most prevalent.
Using metric / SI units makes a lot of things significantly easier in the sciences and is what you will see used on most academic papers and internationally.

it would take a lengthy time period to transform to the metric device, you're proper. human beings do not usually like replace. possibly human beings want to keep the former English measuring device because they imagine it is American and why could we replace, form concepts-set (in spite of the actuality that fairly it is not). i imagine maximum are only scared it will be too problematic to study, which it isn't in any respect. The metric device is honestly a better way of measuring, there is no getting round it. i for my area like it, we really used the metric device in medical college, and contained in the field each and everything is performed with the metric device.

In physics and chemistry we always, always use SI units, but learn how to convert from feet to meters etc. In shop class, all the tools are still marked in inches and feet and you have to use Standard. Or at least that is how they do it in New Hampshire and New Orleans.
