You can't because it's not a choice. Do you really think people willingly choose to be mocked and ridiculed like gays and lesbians are all the time? Sexuality develops through a balance of environmental and hereditary causes, no one's born that way but no one chooses either. In a way it's about the same as if you were born that way.

Well, do people choose to be born black, or white, or asian, or short, or ugly, or diseased, or blind, or addicted to alcohol, or physically challenged, or with thin hair, or no hair, or deaf, or a savant, or with blue eyes, or etc.. Get the point?? People don't necessarily choose to be something that is going to make them a target of ridicule, or even death. What do you say to that man who is obviously feminine-looking, but he has had no surgery to make him that way? People assume that he is gay. He may not be but b/c he is small in stature and kind of heart, then society deems him to be gay. Or the woman who is tall and tomboyish. Is she necessarily a lesbian b/c of her looks? No! But people will label her that way regardless. And you will sit back and be the judge and jury about this man or this woman, when in fact you will be WRONG!!! And, if you read your bible or study your history, you will find that "gayness" has been around waaay longer than just the 21st century!! Yes, people make a lot of choices, but to say that all gay people choose to be gay is like saying that all black people choose to be black or something along those lines.

were you born straight? when did you choose to be straight? why do you keep asking such ignorant questions? don't judge someone unless you walk in their shoes....
and where do you get your alleged "facts" anyway? this ideology "came up" in the 21st century? LOL! that's a laugh!
passing judgment on others and preaching hatred and intolerance the way you constantly do is what's the sin....
(and what do you style your hair with, a weed whacker?)

Hey Pinhead.
It doesn't matter whether we are born gay or choose to become gay.
Every day people choose to change religions. I have a dear friend who fell in love with a Jewish woman and converted to Judaism so their children could be easily raised in the temple. He is protected by laws that make it illegal to discriminate against him because of his religion.
If a man were to, in a fit of despair or a drunken rage, shoot off his own foot he would still protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
So, why does it matter how I became gay?
I pay an enormous amount in taxes every year, I vote, I served in the military and yet I can be fired tomorrow because my boss decides he doesn't want homosexuals working here. I can be denied the right to marry, I can be denied housing or access to public accommodation. How does this make any sense?

You misspelt "20th century," and the idea itself is only that young because it's only recently that we've been asking why they are that way.
And we still don't have conclusive evidence either way. Just the testimony of those who are gay or lesbian (almost all of whom say there was no choice involved,) some research that hints at a biological cause, and only the blind assertions of folks who have no experience saying otherwise.
So if you were gay, who would you believe: the guy who has no credible reason to actually know anything about the issue, or your own experience?

People are born the way they are. Some are born homosexual and other are not. Like some people are bron male and others are born female. No one can choose to be the way they are. We are all hard wired to be the way we are.
A person is born gay, then they are gay. No one wakes up one day and say that they are gay. Only a small minded person says otherwise.
FYI -I am straight.

I believe that they were born that just cause this ideology came about in the 21st century just means that before that they were completely forced to deny what they really felt inside.
YOu need to be more open minded

I can proclaim I was born gay because as a young boy, I always felt somehow different from the other boys, and when I hit puberty I realized I was gay. People who say it is a choice speak from a state of ignorance.
And, no, I was not molested, didn't have a crappy relationship with my father, overbearing mother, or any of the other quack psychology reasons that religious simpletons cling to so desperately.

I don't really think that you can make anyone understand anything that is a belief. Whether people believe it's inborn or a choice, there are very few arguments from either side that would be powerful enough to change someone's mind, regardless of what side they believed was right, yes?
for the record, I believe differently than you, but I also don't think that it's necessary for me to change your mind. Your beliefs are just as valid to you as mine are to me.

Why would you bother? Don't you have something better to do, like worrying about living YOUR life, YOUR way? Life is short - try getting one while there is still time. Once you do feel free to do with it what you believe to be your truth......be careful though....there are a lot of judgemental jerks out there that believe Jesus adorned them with the power to judge others.
