I drive all over britain and would like to know why Cheshire smells so bad from the M6 motorway. Its revolting and definately requires a peg on the nose!

It could be the chemical works. There are large salt mines under the county and this is used as a raw material in many chemical processes.

I drive on the M6 quite a bit and I can inform you that the M6 passes by a lot of farms with animals on them that poo alot, and the poo is smelly. It is also used in the fertiliser that the farmers use on their land.

I woul expect some rather uptight replys to this question...
there is nothing wrong with the smell of Cheshire, like Lancashire and Cumbria, the area provide us with a lot
of food, this entails growing it, this entails MUCK SPREADING!

that's the smell of windes really, plus if your driving north it prepares you for the smell of st-helens
