Ok so recently i did gain alot of weight in a short period of time and no it wasnt due to pregnancy, i d prob be happier if it was. I m not worried about the fat, i know i can burn that by getting off my butt and running a few miles a day, but as far as the stretch marks go...yeah that does freak me out. Will they Ever go away!? Cuz they are nasty looking and i was surprised just how Easily i developed them. i thought it'd be harder to get em but i guess it depends on your body. I heard cocoa butter helps, but how much does it really? and how long does it take? Will my skin ever look the same as it used to before them?

they *are* permenant. they don't go away, but over time they can lighten up/fade to the point where they're hardly noticable. your skin will never look quite the same but close if you take care of it.
this is from a brand new article i just found on msn:

No treatment is guaranteed to remove stretch marks, but you can make them less noticeable. Try twice-daily applications of OTC Striae Stretch Mark Creme -- several studies have confirmed that it can reduce red or white marks in about four weeks.

Cocoa butter does not work at all and neither do the other creams and stuff out for stretch marks. I have them from having kids and used cocoa butter and everything else. The only removal for stretch marks is surgery.

Sorry, they're permanent. I got some on my shoulders from working out in high school and 15 years later I still have em. Went to dermatologist and was told that they don't go away. Only possible choice is plastic surgery and then that depends on where they stretch marks are.

Stretch marks aren't permanent - if you use cocoa butter or shea butter, or even Mederma (it works to heal scars, but it works for stretch marks as well) they'll go away. It does help, because I used it myself right after having twins. It works wonders, and I've used it for a little over two months and my marks are almost invisible.

NO stretch marks dont go away. They may fade a little but will never go away. I have 4 kids and I have used cocoa butter, Merdomes (sp?) that stuff that is used for scars and stretch marks but that didnt work, I have used vitamin E they didnt work. They will fade but you will still see them.. Sorry.
