No both the same.. the playstation controller is easier to hold and get on with than the bigger x-box controller.. but you can get smaller version of both made by mirco-con. they are 20% smaller.

The only functional difference between the two consoles is the controller - the xbox has 2 analogue triggers (great for racing games) and two separate (black and white) buttons on the front of the pad (moved up to the shoulders on the 360).
Mist PS2 fanboys I ever knew just slagged off xbox for no obvious reason, but its a great machine with great games. I guess the two consoles just suit a different market. If you're heavily into games you should get the xbox if you only want one of them, but for casual gaming with mates, PS2 would be my first choice because of the different selection of games on each.

they might've been talking about the controllers. though there's S-type Xbox controllers now, so there's not too much difference. it really depends what genre you're playing: Xbox is better for First-Person Shooters, whereas PS2 is better for RPG's. both systems' controllers are good for fighting games as well.

Xbox is not hard to use. I don't know of any console system that is "hard to use". Maybe some of the games for the system are more challenging than others, but the systems themselves are pretty simple to learn how tro operate.
