If I put exsisting footage of a nuclear explosion into a film i am making will i get done for infringing copyright?

Depends on where you get it from. If you get it from a "public domain" website or source, you are okay, but if it is privately owned footage, and you haven't secured permission, that is copyright infringement, yes

If the footage is copyrighted, then yeah.

You will have to purchase the right to use the footage unless you can get your own.
