Why are you surprised? Cheney shot a lawyer. Edwards is a lawyer. They take care of their own.

That's a lame way to take his comment.
It was intended to be a joke on the part of Jon Stewart, who asked it. He was referring to Edwards' Vice Presidential run, and asking the absurd question about "who would you shoot in the face" to bust on Vice President Cheney, who actually DID shoot someone in the face. (Does he deserve to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency?)
Since Edwards had to say something, he gave probably the only answer that would NOT be offensive, by referring back to Cheney, the butt of the original joke.
It's a typical Republican smear to take his comment so out of context. Grow up and get a sense of humor.

Is this all the GOP has left? Taking comments out of context, and then showing a bunch of phony outrage?
If the GOP is now going to pretend that "The Daily Show" needs to be taken seriously, they are going to get creamed come '08. Their refusal to appear on "The Colbert Report" definitely cost a couple of Repubs in tight races.

I dont imagine it is going to probable be Edwards, yet I surely wouldnt be dissatisfied. i'd fairly have Edwards as president over Obama to boot. Edwards and Obama are both elitist politicians who make large speeches that verify with the "user-friendly guy"....yet Edwards backs up his fairly words with action. now not adequate action for my tastes, yet extra ideal than Obama.
