Why is this one so confusing for people?
How -- and this is a serious question -- do people manage to be old enough to have sex (er, physically, at least), sufficiently involved with society to use a computer, and still not know the basics of reproduction? Is this the fall-out of repressing sex ed in US public schools or something? An epidemic of 14-year-olds without condoms? Few, if any, of these questions seem to come from parts of the world where doctors and drugstore pregnancy tests are in short supply, so why on earth would somebody ask here, anyway?

Re. "Stay out of the "pregnancy" question section and you never see that question!" -- you will if you just look at the front page of the site every now and then, it's so common...

Re. "Before making any further steps with pregnancy tests or going to the doctor you need to hear some life experience stories." I'd grant that that might be true in a few cases, but. Check out http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhAfSWHYXzQi3vDh4DlAmAPzy6IX?qid=20061115121927AA4NXfV and the first answer to it, which ends with "A test is the only way." They're usually along the lines of "I have had sex...late period...could I be?" To which the answer is so clearly "Yes, but you're not going to find out by asking on here."
Peeing on a stick you bought at the drugstore is so simple and cheap that I'm confused by the need for 'stories'...

THAT is a fabulous question. I was thinking the same thing. Don't ask here. Go get the test and take it! Not rocket science.

Most people are probably not old enough to have sex, and sadly these will be the same kids that will have abortions and start that cycle over again to the point where they won't be able to reproduce when they really want to. They're so busy supplying contraceptives to these kids, and they're not taking the time to explain the real dangers of sex. As far as asking here.America is a very worldly place and most of us do have a lot of answers. They ask here because more than likely someone here will have had the same problem.

I know!! I find it amazing that instead of testing, it seems easier to ask strangers who have no knowledge of their sexual/reproductive/medical histories. A test would be so much easier.
Granted I understand the questions where someone may be confused as to whether or not it might still be too early to test. But that might be because I was in that position myself, but blame irregular periods for being unsure of the proper testing time. That and I just suck *** at mathematics.
It's hard to believe that people still think that if you've unproctected sex, or an "accident/mistake" during sex, that you cannot get pregnant.

I wonder the same thing everytime I see a question like that here.
They probably make up the bulk of Yahoo Answers Pregnancy.
I just want to answer all these questions and say,"YES! SEX CAUSES PREGNANCY! If you have sex, there is a very good chance you could be pregnant. And yes, you have to wait more than three days after the fact before you find out!

Well Understandable, but a Q&A forum is just that. Yes if someone is engaging in sexual activity they should be able to handle the outcome, but some women have no where to turn to and no one to talk to so this forum is a plaace to ask even the silliest questions. We all know that it is simple to go to the drugstore and get an HPT but sometimes people freak out. I remember the first time I found out I was pregnant I lost all common sense and Im an RN. Sometimes people just need a place to turn so please dont discriminate against anyone's question!

you are so right, I mean come on already, you have a computer, do a simple search for "signs of an early pregnancy" and thats that, why come here and look stupid asking and then waiting for people to answer????, I can get the answer to this question in 1.5 seconds off my search engine. I'm so tired of reading those questions.
A responsible adult who already knows the risks of pregnancy while having unprotected sex knows what to look for if you think they are pregnant, please, stop asking already, Jesus!

Looks like a query to me. Looked like a query the day past and while I went in discovered it deleted. Maybe you have been the sufferer of random deletion? Anyway, to reply. It would be that the excellent ones stump humans greater than the opposite style so that they fail to remember to superstar it.

THANK YOU!!!! I'm completely baffled by those types of questions. Are these people completely ignorant? The only ones that I can bare are the ones who are obviously only asking, not to get an actual answer, but because they just need to tell someone.

Lady try to put yourself in those women shoes first of all and especially if it is your first pregnancy you are all question marks. Before making any further steps with pregnancy tests or going to the doctor you need to hear some life experience stories. It is a women's world after all to pop up this question. Don't be so hard on us. We are aware of everything what you mentioned above, however thanks for reminding us.

I agree!
It's too bad there's not a sub-category under Pregnancy & Parenting called "Am I Pregnant?" so everyone else could avoid seeing those questions.
