I once thought about treating my mom and myself to a day at the massage parlor and/or a spa (neither of us have ever been to one) but when i mentioned it to my mother-in-law, she jumped at me and told me that i should never go to one of those places because they were one of the filthiest places i could go to. She was like "just think about all the people that go there, and the employees done clean up like they should, they are filthy!" Now my mother-in-law is a senior RN so i kind of took her word for it, but then again she is dramatic and exagerates things alot and to my knowledge has never been to one (Spa, Massage Parlor). So i ask the experienced and the better knowledged..what do you think?

certain inexpensive places will and could be very poor with hygiene . yet expensive well known places are more prone to having the cleanest most popular "worth money " massages .
when you walk into a massage parlor see there certificates and also ask around about them .

Maybe you should find one more people know about. Ask around like you are now. Ask your close friends and ask where are the best spas in your town. Maybe you could look around the place before you go to get the treatment. Maybe your mother-in-law feels left out. But you did say she is a senior RN, so just go with what you want or think you should do. Remeber you have never been to one, who to say you shouldn't try it out.

Shop around. You can probably get a good massage for even less than P300. It doesn't matter how old you are, if you want a massage, go and get one. Don't worry about accidentally entering a massage parlour known for offering "extra service". Even a massage parlour known for "extra service" will give a standard massage. Enjoy your massage! Any spa I have ever been to was great. It all depends on location, hear-say and how the spa represents itself. I would not go to a spa just because of its cheap prices. Go to a salon that offers a wide variety of services and explains the services clearly. If you have any doubts just go elsewhere!

My bestfriend is a massage therapist and works at a reputable spa. Some places are a bit dirty, but as long as you stick to "spas", you'll be ok.

I get a massage as often as I can. It all depends on the place you go. Don't go somewhere just because it's "cheap". Do your research. These places change the massage table linens after every client. Get a massage! Enjoy yourself!
