Insurance for me would be 2400.00 a year through progressive. WTF is up?

You're under 25, obviously. Either that or you have WAY too many tickets. Anyone under 25 trying to get a sportbike is in for a rude awakening. Insurance rates have big spikes right at the 600cc & 1000cc marks for just that reason.

Try something different, like a Suzuki SV650 or GS500F. They go almost as fast and are better for new riders, but aren't classed as sportbikes by most insurance companies.

I pay under $400 per year for full coverage, including medical, for a 600cc sportbike, but I'm 34, married, and have a good driving record.

Stay away from the freakin' lizard. GEICO is all about making money, not taking care of your claim. I know this firsthand.

That's crazy. Unless you're 16, live in NYC, have a horrible driving record and are financing it and have to have full coverage. There are a few things you can do, though.
1. Increase your deductibles.
2. Pay for it outright and thus drop the theft & collision.
3. Drop extras like rental coverage, etc.
4. Reduce your maximum benefits.
5. Shop around - my agent of 14 years gave me a $1200 quote. A few phone calls and I got it the same coverage (and a new insurance agent) for less than half. Your agent(s) should do the work and find you the lowest price. That's their job. Good luck.

That sounds really high. Do you have tickets and accidents or claims in the last 3 years?

Insurance only deals with the cost of replacing the bike vs. statistics of age, hp, driving record, theft rate of the bike and a few other factors.

That bike doesn't cost more than $9K to replace so you shouldn't be paying that much. That's surprising because progressive is usually pretty good.

Shop around..
My independent agent quoted me $1300.
Full coverage on a '06 HD FXD35 Superglide.
I believe that was also Progressive.
And my record is not the best.
