Like ALL rules it was made up by men. I think this one was written by that guy named Leo from Brooklyn.

Some men do.
Some women don't.
The practice of shaving hair started in the French Brothels to convince the "gentlemen callers" that they were younger.
Hence, more likely STD free virgins.
Because of this, more french women don't shave to this day. Not the majority just more than the U.S.
Male Swimmers shave to reduce water resistance.
Some lesbians don't shave to throw-off rediculous female image. Some lesbians do shave, or don't for other reasons.
I shave my armpits twice a year, just to "refresh".

Well, the whole 'women shaving their pits' thing came about because it was all of a sudden sexier looking when they were in a bathing suit. They chalk it up to a marketing opportunity (razors and such). I guess everyone thought a man looked manly with hair and that was ok.

No-one. It is women shaving their underarms and legs that are the oddity.
The shaving of underarm hair by women was the result of a marketing campaign (circa 1915) related to the popularity of sleeveless dresses. Shaving of legs came later as a sort of follow-on.

It wasn't a rule that men DIDN'T do it, it was a custom that women DID. Simply because a woman did something was usually enough to discourage males from doing the same.

I don't KNOW. Personally, the only body hair I'm really against on a guy OR a girl is underarm hair. It just doesn't seem very hygenic, and you get so sweaty there, and. . .just, ugh. I think everyone should shave their underarms.
