Yup.. heh your okay, dont worry about anything, it happened to me too.. SOO YOUR NOT ALONE..
Its just that you have come up with a virus, or cold most likely.
Now I got to say, its most likely you got fluid in your ear.. take a warm shower or just putting the ear in a warm container with water should do the trick.. i know it sounds crazy and awkward, but it will help release the bacteria and stuff inside of your ears.. and release it into the water. if not.. disolve it so it will be gone.
There are many things that can be the result of your situation.
1 is.. when you are in a plane and just taking off.. you will feel your ear is blocked, and you cannot hear anything.. this is because you are climbing to a higher altitude, and shall clear up once the plane levels out at the assigned cruise level.
Or 2.. It can be just where ya are now lol at the comp or in the house.. when the temperature changes slightly, and yet your body is not adapted to is.. it can be the result of fluid building up in your ear, which will dry up by a couple of hours.. keeping yourself warm is the best thing to do.. this usually occurs when the individual wakes up just after a nights sleep :).
Hope this works for you..
Sincers.

When you swallow, you send a tiny little pulse of air pressure up your eustachian tubes. You can get much the same effect by yawning.
Theeustachian tubes are passages that run from your inner ear to the back of your throat. They allow the air pressure on each side of your eardrums to be the same. If the pressure is high on one side or the other, your eardrum will be pushed in or out, and can even rupture. This can be painful and disorienting, and can damage your hearing permanently. The crackling noise is your eardrum flexing, I think.
When your ears feel plugged up, like when you have a cold, this means that the eustachian tubes are blocked.
