well first of all don't use cedar it is bad for them and second are you sure they fight? the two me and my hubby have look as if they are killing each other and they are just playing. but if they are really fighting and bringing blood then you will have to keep them seperate we are house sitting one and he hates both of our ferrets but it seems as if his owner doesn't want him so i guess he is ours now! it is really hard to keep ferrets like that. oh and the basement is a bad idea they like interaction and to be around people alot so move them back up stairs change the bedding to carefresh or other recycled paper "shavings" and put the cages VERY close together, once they have they're smell on the bedding put the bedding in the others cage to help them get each others scent. oh and let them out more they need to be out of the cage a minuimum of 2 hours a day and try this when they are out of the cage put harnesses on them and let them play but if they get to rough you have the power to pull them apart with out worry of getting bit. keep in mind they do play hard and it sounds like they are fighting sometimes but if one just keeps comming back it's not hurt that bad check out essentialferretguide.com; ferretfacts.com; ferret.org; and ferretcentral.org to name a few and if you can go buy some books i have heard ferrets for dummies is great but i have 4 books and 3 magazines i'm reading now so that one will have to wait a bit.

appears like we now have the equal factor. i've 2 ferrets a sable boy and a dismal eyed white sample woman. due to the fact we introduced her residence( per week when we obtained him) they do this at all times. he jumps on her and nibbles on her neck then she chases him down and plows him over. the noise u listen is a ferret noise simply as a cat meows a ferret hisses, ticks, makes squeaks, and tons of different noises. they're rather simply gambling and wont harm every different. Have Fun and wait until they play king of the sofa, chair, mattress, and many times flooring. they'll begin to lighten after they mature extra and can begin to be much less territorial. Good Luck

Get a dual cage where they can view and smell each other until they get used to each other. Separate individual cages won't help them. All nature needs companionship. You have to give them time. It is also a part of their nature what you are experiencing. Ferrets are territorial and if they are old enough for mating the male bites the female in the nape of the neck. If you are planning on breeding them talk to a vet.
