Scrape out whatyou can with a sharp knife, then put them right side upin a basin and pour on boiling water to cover them. the wax should just rise to the surface of the water. what's left should be able to be cleaned off the warm jars with a paper towel

Put the glass jars in the freezer overnight. Once it's frozen, you'll be able to tap it out. I do this for all my votive holders - works like a charm.

Soak for a few mins in hot soapy water, then try scraping it to loosen it. It should just twist on out. Clean the rest with dishrag.
