Stay at home fathers are great!! Whomever is best fit to stay home should stay home. If the women makes more money then why not let her be the breadwinner and let the man care for the house?
If we have come to true equality then this should be ok.

I say what's the difference between mothers or fathers staying at home with the kids. With all the equality with men and woman really who's right is it to say who the better parent is, I have 5 kids and in the 13 years since my first was born I have gone out and worked while my partner at the time stayed home. I say hurrah for dads who do decide to stay at home, both parents are as important as each other

If mom is okay working and dad wants to stay home, then go for it! The child will benefit either way by having a parent home with them, especially in the formative years, before they start school. And it should be the parent who is comfortable in that role - mom or dad. Good luck!

I think that it is perfectly acceptable. I know a couple that actually do that. Dad stayed home with the kids, cooked and did the cleaning. Mom went out and worked to pay the bills. If both spouses are comfortable with the roles, I say why not?

I say GO FOR IT. There is nothing wrong with the dad staying home and the mom going to work. This is the year 2006. Traditions are changing. I would have loved to have dad stay home and do laundry, cook, clean, chase the kids, etc. while I went to work.

While part of me says it is ok, most of me wants my man to be the major breadwinner. I guess it depends on whether the guy has a good attitude, keeps his sense of self intact, and is good with the children/housework/shopping/cooking/etc.

Whatever works for you. I personally would rather be the one staying home but if I was more career driven the dad staying home would work just as good.

I am a stay at home mom but I wouldnt have minded my husband staying at home at all. He makes more money than I did so thats why I stay home, but if I was the one with a salary enough to support the family, I wouldnt mind at all.

it don't matter who do what. if he ain't lazy and sittin around, and he's actually taking care of his kids and the house, there's no problem with a stay at home dad. My dad was one while he was waiting for all of the paperwork for his retirement to go through, and my mom had a job,and everything went fine.
