I've heard that many people now hack their showers — or customize them, to increase water-flow. I know that you can take your shower head down, pull the washer out with a screwdriver, and remove the offending intrusion that is restricting water flow. BUT - I can't find anything to remove? what am I looking for exactly? Is the washer the black rubber circle where you screw the pieces together?

First, you don't want to remove the washer and, yes that's that round black thing, made out of rubber.
Your shower will leak all over the place, you won't be happy. What you want to do, or should do if you can do it. I just did it to my kitchen faucet.
It's the way they use to "save water" by retarding it, by putting in the center the plastic, with holes in it, restricting the water flow. What you want to do is drill out this little plastic restrictor, I used a sharp knife, I don't know how heavy your is. Have your boyfriend, or some other person do it. It's not hard, it may be tough. You'll need two wrenches or big pliers to take the shower head off.

do no longer decrease. it is possibly threaded into pipe at the back of the wall. Unscrew there and and upload a sparkling bathe neck from a house restoration shop. merely unscrew the pipe and head, set up a sparkling pipe and screw on your head.
