Yes, it is. There is good quality acrylic and bad though. Use a good brand name.

It definitely depends. I think chenille (Or however you spell it) is acrylic and that's good for scarves and some (but very few) sweaters, but I would never wear pants or a [non-sweater] top made from it.

No no no!!! Stay with natural fibers! Acrylic will get warped with washing, shiny with ironing, and can be all-around uncomfortable to wear.
