True love is unconditional. It's wanting only happiness for the other person, even if they are happy with someone else.
How do you know it? You hurt when the other person hurts, you smile when the other person is happy...it's a connection beyond the initial attraction that never lessens and never changes.

True love is simply love (being in love)...calling it "true" implies there is also "faux" love...if it's love, then it's 'true'...
You know because of how you feel...that'll be different for different people...do you miss the other person when you are apart? Look forward to seeing or hearing from them? Get a warm and happy feeling in their presence? Don't like to imagine how your life would be without them?
Then it's probably love...of course, it could be infatuation as that often occurs first...love takes some time to grow (no, I don't believe in love at first sight)...

When you think of them all the time. When you can feel the emotions they feel without them saying anything at all. When your sad and just seeing them makes you feel better. When you can depend on each other for anything. When they make you feel things you've never felt before. When you've found true love it's like someone who's been in the dark and someone comes by a with just a flip of a lightswitch you know it's true love. It's a magic feeling of comfort and understanding. A bond unbreakable by anything or anyone.

To me, "true love" is always there. It doesn't change. Sometimes it's tested though and sometimes those tests are too hard to pass! It doesn't necessarily mean that it wasn't or isn't true love, just that at that point in time, one of you couldn't stick it out with the other. Sometimes, it's is impossible to stick it out for that person. The trick is to take the time to get to know someone---on their good days and bad and on "your" good days and bad and see where it takes you. "Real happiness" with your "true love"---that's the best!!!!

True love is so hard to define it is different for everyone; but for me it is when you are compatible in ever way yet different at the same time. Some one who completes you! Where you are weak they are strong and the other way around. You will know it wont be a matter of lust or etc. it will be you just wanting to be with them no matter what excepting every flaw they have.

true love is marked by trust, reliability, compassion, feeling safe, and knowing we are loved unconditionally. love doesn't hurt, and isn't obsessive, or codependant. love is not critiical or demeaning. love is knowing if u get into a disagreement with your mate that they won't cheat on u for revenge. love makes itself responsible for the needs and wishes of the other.love is being able to be you, and make mistakes without having to worry that your character will be assinated. love is easy and all that is good and fair in life. love is not about lust and infatuation.

i know-because i don't feel restless anymore. even when we fight we can both appologise and then listen to each other and make up within a couple of hours of the fight. i feel like i could be happy with this person for a LONG LONG time :)

When you are with that special person, you think about only what makes her special. You don't think about nailing her, you are attracted to each other differently. By as they say chemical romance, that there are sparks there. That you think of her personality, smile, eyes and intelligence. that you can support a lady emotionally and mentally. We should try to stop confusing lust with love. Lust is to desire the body, but love is the desire to be with the person always.
