It's a glammed up name for strippers. It's to make them feel better about what they do.
Edit: I've never understood the desire people have to change their job titles. At the end of the day what it really comes down to isn't their title but their job. You can call yourself a sanitary engineer if you like, but even so, you're still picking up garbage. The title doesn't change what you do. If you change your title because you're ashamed of what you do for some reason, then stop doing it. Or live with it.
