I have like 4 rings, a necklace and a watch that were given to me by an ex and I'm ready to get rid of them. I just don't know what to do with them now, and I'm interested in how much pawn shops actually pay you for your jewelry. I'm taking it in tomorrow to see what they say. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Melt it down and make it into something new.

There are a few things you could do. Pawn shop? No way. If you choose to sell them, be sure to get an appraisal from a gemologist. You can sell it on eBay or the classified ads in your area. You can take out the stones and make into another piece of jewelry for yourself or to give as a gift. I did that with two diamonds from a necklace. I added the diamonds to a birthstone ring that I purchased. When I look at the ring, I don't even think about the guy. You can melt the gold and use it to make another piece of jewelry. You can donate it to a charity auction (get a receipt and you can use it as a deduction on your income taxes). You can always keep them and give them to your children/grandchildren if you have any. Although you may not want the items any longer, they may. Hope that helps.

Pawn shops usually do not give you what the item is worth. You might want to have them appraised and possibly try a consignment shop. If you need the money right away and don't care that you're not getting what it's worth, then a pawn shop would do...

I don't think pawn shops pay much. If you really don't want it, donate it to Goodwill or any thrift store and you can take it off your taxes as a charitable deduction, just have them give you a receipt.
