When I saw the first season, I didn't really get what was so great or real about it. It's a bunch of spoiled teenagers spending their parents money and living in this surreal wealthy lifestyle that nobody really lives. All they do on that show, is sit somewhere and talk about other people. Then they go get something to eat while planning their parties. They act like it's going to be the sh!t, then, it's just little circles of people talking about each other.
Now the second or third season whatever, I can't watch it for more than 10 minutes because it makes absolutely no sense.
If they must film rich young people, why can't they be over 21 so they can get drunk and do something interesting?
Am I the only one that feels that way?

You are so right!

Poor rich kids... They spend all day sitting around the pool, doing absolutely nothing and bitchin' about the others... I mean, are we actually supposed to feel sorry for them when they have a "problem" or something?!

Well, I like watching Laguna Beach, not that I’m proud of it or anything. It’s definitely a show that you love to hate and people just can’t help watching it even though it’s so stupid. It’s one of those…

I agree with you on the first part. I watched almost every season, but not closely enough I guess, because I didn’t notice this until this season that all they ever do is eat and talk. They are always filmed while they sit at a local café or restaurant and 2 people catch up on a topic. Geez, if they keep eating the way they do, they are all going to get fat. And I always wonder if maybe MTV pays them to eat at those places. And yeah, they always seem to find a nice place, like the beach or something, and talk about their problems. For real people like me, I don’t ask my friends to meet me at the ‘beach’ so I can tell them my problems, instead we just either talk it out on the phone, or meet at someone’s house, or have dinner somewhere and talk. And the weirdest thing is that Kyndra & Cami’s group all hate Tessa & Rocky so much and vice versa, but they ALL get invited to the same events and both groups attend too! If that is reality, it just doesn’t make sense to me, because if I really weren’t friends with someone, then I would not get invited to that social event. I thought people had to be friends in order to get invited to the same things. I now know that the show’s producers probably put them up to this, because it just makes much more sense when let’s say they had Kyndra invite Tessa to her BBQ. They weren’t friends and haven’t bonded in so long, so why would Kyndra just invite Tessa over out of the blue??! MTV had to have done it on purpose to make “drama”! And surely, so-called drama was produced from this – Tessa couldn’t take the hate and left.

By the way, I heard not all of the people on Laguna Beach are rich, actually a lot of them are from middle-class families and only a couple of them are "rich". You can judge for yourself by looking at what kind of cars the kids drive.

And as for filming people over 21, MTV already does that in Real World. There are people under 21 on the show, but they all get drunk anyways. So if they were to make another show about rich people over 21, it would be way too similar to the Real World and people might not be interested because it would be a “rip off”. So filming high school students was an alternative, since they aren’t exactly out on their own yet but are on the verge. Anyhow, people think the cast of Laguna Beach gets drunk anyway, even though they are underage – that’s what people are saying they’re drinking out of those red cups anyway!

look, the reason people get obsessive about the show is that, they wish that's how they lived.. in a beautiful sunny California town. I don't blame them, however.. you're right the show is a bunch of kids talkin about who they're gonna hook up with.. but the directors give them "tips" on what to talk about before the cameras are rolling almost like scripted reality? But every teen would do anything to live that lifestyle but since they can't, they do the next best thing, watch it.

hope that helps :P

I didn't watch the first season, thought the show was dumb. My sister will always watch the season 2 and I got hook, only because Jessica the not so rich girl who guys just used, and her friends talk about, and even plotted to assault. And the main girl Kristen, I like her attituded. But this season its dumb the same stupid plot. The same old parties, they even have look alikes, little sisters and Jessica is back still being used. I love reality television but this show has to go.

I feel the same way.
I hate that show too. But I sucked in cause I want to know who is cheating on who, and what all those mean girls are going to do next. But arent all MTV shows like that??
It really is sad though, because there are teenage girls that watch that crap and idolize it. There is nothing fabulous about being a greedy, vain, gossiping, slut.

It grew to become into probable the terrific episode as much as now, in my opinion. Breanna tried to repair her broken friendship with Raquel my inviting her to out to lunch to communicate approximately their friendship. apparently Breanna sort-of supply up talking to Raquel and then Raquel didnt come to her sixteenth bday party by way of fact she couldnt convey Tessa. They supply up being acquaintances after that. yet in any case. Raquel began bashing Breanna at lunch and Breanna began crying. She had invited Rocky to her pool party in the previous that, and Rocky got here in any case, yet everybody thoroughly omitted her. additionally, Chase & Kelan went on a double date with Lexie & her buddy to three rather fancy eating place, (Kelan has a overwhelm on Lexie) even with the indisputable fact that it did no longer rather pass too nicely. wish this enables!

youre right. totally overrated. And besides..its all just staged. its the new type of ''reality series'' that mtv tries to portray as the modern soap for teens. They just try a little too hard in my opinion.

Oh, I hate it as much as you do. It makes me sick and they don't even do a good job of making it real. Make them over 21 and put it on HBO, then come talk to me writers.

no, you're not the only one. why do we need another reminder about how many rich people there are? to top it off, it's just showing high schoolers (who never have to worry about money) shopping and talking.
