Yes, I agree with the exercising. It is hard to get up and moving when you feel depressed, but just tell your self, you WILL feel better when you're done.
Also, I’d suggest St. John's Wort, it is a plant. It is sold, powdered up in capsules. You can find it at any health food store, and perhaps at your drug store in the "herbs and spices remedies" section ; )
It is interesting that here in the U.S. (where I’m at) doctors (medical or psychological) cannot prescribe herbs to patients, even if they think they would help them, because plant remedies are not regulated by the FDA.
But, in Europe, it is common for doctors to prescribe St. John's Wort for depression.
It is worth a try, if you can steer clear of addictive antidepressant drugs that seem to be so popular these days!

I've been battling depression for quite a while. I'm now taking Cymbalta and having very good results. As far a a natural way, exercise works as does being around loved ones. Don't watch the news as it's a complete bummer. Dark chocolate works as a mood elevator. Its boosts the serotonin levels which is your bodies natural anti-depressant. If you have panic attacks or problems sleeping try Valerian tea. It is available at all health food stores and has a calming effect. Best of Luck to you.

if it's chemically induced, apparently st. john's wort works well, but if it's not chemically induced, self learning - self help books on how to change your way of thinking.

Money, lot's of money can also help many people get out of depression. Releasing the ego and realizing that your emotions are not the real you, but the personality you, the deeper you is always at peace, it's the observer, the watcher, and it's simply watching the personality of you experiencing depression. Learn from it. Life is full of cycles on the spectrum, realize that you will no doubtedly feel down at times, and up at others. Everything is impermanent, these feelings will pass, they always do. And usually, from depression, it gives us an opportunity to go inside, self reflect and come out better people once it's over. It's an opportunity to learn about yourself, honour it, it's necessary.

There are a lot of places that claim they have over-the-counter or herbal cures for depression, but the reality is that they've never been proven to be beneficial to people with severe depression. There are a lot of other options for antidepressants besides Zoloft, so don't be afraid of trying a new one. Suicidal thoughts or ideas are a very common side effect of antidepressants like Zoloft, especially in adolescents, but this usually goes away with time. I take Celexa, a drug like Zoloft, but there are other anti-deps that could help you like Wellbutrin or Effexor.

I agree with all the answers the other fellows posted here, however, if you feel things are taking longer than they should and this is not just a minor bout of depression, like the ones we get every once in a while, your best bet is to visit a psychiatrist to work with his advise, as it's best to start treatment early, if needed.

Well, if you're seriously depressed then medicine and counselling and proffessional help are obviously best. Otherwise, just talking to friends and family, writing or drawing, and listening to music,(although this sometimes only makes it worse for some people), are usually good options.

That would have to be spiritually. Focus your thoughts on the Creator our Lord Almighty. That will get you through; but there are times you may want to have ONE drink to help calm you down; that's only ONE drink or bear. Getting active in something that takes your mind off things also helps.

Stay away from the medication; high society is killing people with that to get rid of what they feel are undesirable.

Hang out with people you love. They will prevent you from doing anything stupid, and they always seem to find ways to cheer you up. I battle it on and off, and I've found that this works for me.

Take Prozac and then eat an apple! Probably the exercise suggestion is best. I find when I am working out my attitude and personality is really lifted.
