Yeah I sort of agree with you there about most women not wanting to be drafted.
Also that it's not really fair for the men.
However, consider these points:
I think women should have equal opportunity to JOIN if they want to, because they CAN be equal to men in terms of what's expected of them in the army.
There are a few reasons why women will never be equal (don't worry I'm not bashing women, this is just ) in regards to their being able to join the army.
Here are a few.
Periods- NOT an excuse.
A LOT of women get problems with their periods and hormones, this can change from year to year or even cycle to cycle.
It would not be appropriate for women to get drafted due to this reason alone (imo)
I have no idea how women soldiers deal with such an inconvenience like having to remember to change tampons when in the middle of a battle. Or suffering pms/pmdd? I'm not talking about moods. Some days women literally have to sleep all day. Blood sugar changes they experience blurred vision migraines and dizziness (some not all)
This would probably prevent them for being drafted in the first place, maybe as an illness or something like that.
It is a real serious thing, pms, and even though not all women get it or get all the symptoms I bet a lot of women would use it as an excuse to not be drafted. So maybe women don't even need to worry about that becoming a reality.
Rape- I know it happens amongst men but women have 2 holes and other ..womanly stuff which would/could basically lead to more rapes. If the temptation is there.. sort of thing. I'm guessing they would be more of a target for the enemy too.
Physical abilities-
Simply put, women are built weaker. There is NO DOUBT that women can be equally strong if not stronger than men. Notice that I said they are built weaker not that they are. Throughout the general population, men will statistically be stronger than women. Fact of life.
This wouldn't make sense if they were drafted imo but I guess it could be overcome pretty well with training. Men need to be trained for the army too after all. But I wonder if it would be too much to ask as men naturally have it easier.
Sorry for length. Please tell me why you disagree, if you do.
I'm open to changing my mind. The way I see it is that women joining the forces are really just the one's that are upto HELPING and women shouldn't be expected to be equal unless they CHOOSE to join.
If they have any role they would be more suited to the type of work they did in past wars such as nursing etc.
PS- Most feminists are whackos so that's not surprising lol. They don't know the true meaning of the word. Feminist seems to mean crazy ignorant biased man-hater these days.

What women wanted in the military was to be combat trained for when they are serving on the front lines, as they often are as support staff, nurses and other duties. What women wanted was not to have to depend on a man for protection as they are plenty busy protecting their own person, not to mention the disadvantage of the vulnerable position that places upon anyone . What women wanted was to serve their countries and be recognized for their contributions, (how many hospitals can run without nurses, there are many more examples)
But mainly as a woman, as a woman Marine honorable discharge and as a feminist, what we women really want is an end to WAR!! Until that time, you'll see us everywhere, we've certainly put in the time, now we want the equipment, the benefits and the constitutional protection that men have ALWAYS had.
PEACE.
Congress has had the power to draft women since 1944. With or without equal representation in Congress. With or without an amendment guaranteeing "Equality of rights, under the law, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex." That, by the way, was the proposed equal rights amendment, defeated in 1980.

That's what true equality is- you take the bad with the good. Women should be allowed to participate in things men can do, but should also have to take the less pleasant responsibilities as well. Of course there are always going to be some things that must distinguish the sexes- i.e. childbirth- but I believe that true equality is a prize that comes with a price.

I can tell you that one of the most awful things that I had to do in my life was register for the possibility of being drafted. I am so against war and I do not like guns. It was an awful feeling to know that I had no choice in the matter.
Just because I was born male I had to sign up for the possibility of dying in some war.
My opinion is that if women truly want equality then everything must be equal. If I have to suffer through the trauma of signing up for the possibility of dying, then so should the equal women.
I do not want women to die in wars, but I do not want men to die in them either. Now I am old enough that they would not want me for a war, but I must admit that it was something that was always on my mind when I was younger.
Take care,
Troy

Gender equality should not be approximately the two sexes/genders (and human beings in between- there are a rather good variety of greater suitable than Western society realizes) having the ability to accomplish each and every of the comparable responsibilities. ladies and men human beings would be equivalent without being the comparable, and due to this there are nevertheless such regulations. regrettably, it relatively is no longer as straightforward as our society needs (no longer in effortless terms in the protection rigidity or place of work), and classic gender roles are nevertheless expected to be accompanied in Western society. Feminists many times combat against themselves even, and that i do no longer understand the place the coolest judgment went in this argument. Why is it a foul difficulty that ladies and men human beings have categories of intelligence and abilities? How and who judges what's greater proper and greater valued in society? i think of we would desire to be problematic the media plenty greater, annoying equivalent pay for equivalent artwork, and make society comprehend how the two sexes are considerable in diverse tactics; and not all men or all women human beings greater healthful into particularly defined roles. yet, it is going too some distance to anticipate equivalent numbers of ladies and men human beings in specific artwork roles- maximum persons see the reasoning at the back of isolating ladies and men human beings in activities...

I consider myself a feminist; however, I never want to end up on the receiving end of a draft letter. If that's what equality in the military means, then no thank you.

I don't think so. I think what we really want is woman's right to fight if she wants to. That is euality.for women. On the other hand men can't choose so that is not equality for them. It is a cundrum.
