We keep hitting the side of the monitor and it stops for about 5 (or less...) minutes... Why does it make the noise, and is there any way to get the noise to stop?

The monitor's high-voltage power supply is going bad. There is nothing that you can do to stop this except replace the monitor. Depending on the age of the teacher in the class they may not be able to hear this noise. Your only choice is to complain to the teacher and convince them that it is making a noise. Good luck!

I would check the settings on a monitor in the class that is not making a noise and compare them to the monitor that is making a noise.

my first thought is that it particularly is ur headphones and the soundcard do no longer mixture ok. attempt changing the headphones first and be conscious if that solves the priority. If no longer it may probable be the sound card. pondering which you talking a pair of computing device as nicely the indisputable fact that it would be optimal proper to take it to a specialist and characteristic it regarded at (*in the adventure that your no longer a working computing device or laptop saavy individual). If ur are laptop saavy sufficient to take it aside verify all of the connections for the sound card are seem after, there is not any extra something touching the cardboard that could intervene with its ordinary overall performance, sparkling off dirt, ect. optimal proper of extreme high quality fortune.

Don't worry about it. That is the high-voltage regulator. It is about to "blow". Once it does the noise will stop. (Of course, so will the monitor...no more picture. But that is a minor detail. LOL)

Try changing the refresh rate. Lowering the rate may stop the noise.

It could be a dodgy fan...

You could try and get a new one, or just cover it up with a sheet to absorb the sound.

You could buy a new monitor, or you could just not use that particular one.
