I wouldn't pay $500-$600 for a piece of junk.

My best advise, which is the path I am taking, everybody knows what happens to the first batches of Consoles, they dont work properly or you might get a damage one. So if I were you and thats what I am doing, I will spare some money and wait for the second batch of PS3... that way you will get a nice working console... in the meantime I am getting the Wii, I have the Gamecube and the PS2, so I will get both, if you want spend the $250 on the Wii and then spare for nexts year PS3 second batch of consoles. That is my best advise.

Yea, I agree...the PS3 is as much as my rent! For the price of a PS3 you can get a Wii and a 360 but since I am such a PS2 fan I will end up buying a PS3 eventually but the price is outragous!

Sony always releases the play stations at a high price and there are always bugs to be worked out. dont count on a ps3 to be able to play the old games as promised, they are already having issues with that. hang on to your old system if you want to play them. The ps3 will be higher in price because of the technology, but they always cut the price two to three years after release. Until then I plan to rent one occassionaly or just play at my incredibly wealthy friends house. By the way the games start at 90 bucks and that will probably not go down, for new titles. Sony knows that there are always going to be people willing to pay top dollar.

I was just thinking the same thing. I agree completely, but I think that if enough people want it and the games are good enough looking, people will somehow get the money. I could be wrong though, but I doubt it will be a flop. I know some friends of mine are against buying it and instead are buying a wii. They said the price and the lack of good looking games are keeping them from buying a ps3.

OMG I just looked up the price! I wanted one, but not that bad. I have a PS2 and plenty of PC games, so I'll be happy with that.
I am grateful for what I have.
(Wait! Did I just read that Devil May Cry is going to be nuts? Hmm. I could sell some things here to buy one maybe, lol. I sure do like Devil May Cry...)
The games START at $90.00??

Yeah I think it's too much but see I have a plan. If I wait it out the prices will drop and maybe I will be able to afford it. If not my son's father loves to play video games and that kid will break him down sooner or later and when he comes home from his dad's with a PS3, I can just play his.

I am going to get a ps3, I think the wii is not going to be as cool as the commercials make it look. The ps3 is def worth all the money, i have seen some things about it on tv and the graphics look so amazing. Def get the ps3, it'll be worth it. Devil may cry is going to be nuts!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that it is ridiculously overpriced. I will just wait until they aren't selling enough and the demand isn't as high before I purchase one for my son. No way would I pay that price!
