I heard it's 13.7kW, which would make it abysmal and pretty expensive considering a 15kg refill is around £20.

That's right, except I pay 8.6p/kW which would make electric heating cheaper and more convenient than gas heating. But somehow I had this idea that gas heating was a lot cheaper?

If what you say is true, then a Kw is costing about 10p which is on a par with electricity?
