Teenagers sit in school aproximately five hours a day. Covering five subjects a day. Considering the Multitude of subjects to discuss and learn in our everyday lives five hours out of twenty hours a day does not cover much television programs can fill in a lot of blanks like issues that affect their every day lives like bullying and global warming. It also discourages Teenagers drink alcohol and take drugs. Then Teenagers need laughs and entertainment. So I really think it T.V is important in a teenagers and childs life.

I think TV deprives children of their innocence. Makes them grow up to fast. Sexual content that they are exposed to is a growing problem resulting in children being sexually active. Therefore causing them to be confused by their sexuality, which use to be reserved for adults. In most cases adults can't handle and these junior high and high school kiddies are experimenting with fire.
Violence is exciting rather than being entertaining.
Education is in question as far as I'm concerned. Kids are so much smarter than they were in my days. I think we need more censorship during day and prime time.
Obesity, that is another question. When I was a kid I walked everywhere and was safe from predators. TV is helping in that area. Also the way we are eating these days. No more well balanced home cooked meals every night. Now it is eating out nearly every night.

Television is also overloading children's ability to process information. Over the years they had dramatically increased the amount of images being flashed per second, especially in kid's TV shows. In my humble opinion, this is a bad thing that can lead to an increase in the chances of developing severe mental health issues as the person becomes a young adult.

Television is meaningless to most children. It is only the generation who grew up when TV was new, who think it is bad for children.
There is much more to interest children these days.

Interesting question. I did not allow my sons to watch violence on tv. They did see the news, however. One of my sons is in airforce, went to Iraq. The other would never, ever do this, has computer business. Who's to say what was the impact.

I don't think "television" in and of itself is harmful to children.
I think children can watch television as long as the parents have other sources of entertainment and interaction for their children.
Parents must monitor the time spent watching TV just like they should be monitoring everything else in their child's life.

Attention span problems because TV caters to short attention span.
Also reduced creativity because they don't have to think to watch it.
Develops unrealistic values and expectations in life
(everything turns out well in 30 mins) or
people come back from the dead or
it's easy to be famous or
it's easy to pretend to be what you are not (like a doctor)

it all depends on how ones child is brought up, not some medium like television or newspaper or anything else., and the end of the day obesity, from my point of view, is just hereditary.

Your statement is in support of some social science simple correlation, thus not empirically supported; just conjectured.
