When you put a child up for adoption don't you get money for it from the agency, so why is it illegal to sell your baby to a family if they're willing take over as the parents. I'm not selling my kids I'm just wondering about that whole adoption thing because I know people that have adopted children and paid as much as $50,000 per child..........Things that make me go "Hummmmmm"!

Well, the adoptive parents do pay, but it doesn't go to the bio parents, it goes to the doctor bills, court cost and lawyers.

I know several teenage moms who made the biggest sacrifice they could for their babies and let them be adopted by stable, loving, adoptive parents. None of them received any money from the adoption agency. Some, however, did have their cost of living paid for as well as all their medical expenses, but this money generally comes from the pocket of the adoptive parents. $50,000 to adopt a baby is considerably higher than anything I have ever heard before. A lot of the cost goes to lawyer's fees, processing paperwork fees, and covering necessities for the birth mother. A newborn does cost more to adopt than an older infant or toddler or a child with special needs. There are many reputable adoption agencies and family lawyers around, but you'll always find someone who is in the adoption business because of the money.

Well I know that there is a type of adoption where the mother meets a certain family wanting to adopt and that family and the mother makes an agreement and the mother might say "okay you pay all the doctor bills, and whatever i need for the baby while i am pregnant and then pay me $50,000 and i will carry this baby and you can adopt it as your own" now that is not illegal. However, the mother and the adopting family must go through an adoption agency so the adopting family doesn't get "screwed" over... so is that what you wanted to know?

In an adoption scenario, the adopting parents aren't 'paying' for the child. They usually pay the medical bills so that the mother carrying the child has the best care (to meet the adoptive parent's standards). Medical bills without insurance can be VERY pricey so I'm not surprised that one might end up with $50,000 in medical bills. It's just a way for the adoptive family to ensure a healthy baby that they will be taking care of the rest of their life. I hope this helps answer your question.

It is illegal to sell your child. The fee's that are charged by adoption agencies are for expenses of the mother, the orphange(if present) and medical expenses. These fee's are also known as "donations."
People that pay $50,000 per child are being ripped off, but are also too picky. The pickier the parents are, the more the child will cost. This is due to the work the agency/orphanges having to find that 'perfect' white skin, blue eyes, red headed child with dimple cheeks.

It's illegal to sell a baby, but not through adoption agencys, the biological parent does not get money, just a home for their baby, the adoption agency gets money to pay off doctor bills, and staff.

I've never heard of a parent giving their child up for adoption and getting paid - I've heard of Surrogate Mothers getting paid - maybe that's where the confusion is? As far as kids for sale - I won't do the illegal thing and sell mine, but some days, they are free :) Just kidding, I love my children!
