Sparrows and Blackbirds live in hedges they build nests and fly in and out of the hedges. Sometime mice, they build their nest/homes at the lower part of the hedge, it can be easy for them to escape capture from a predator such as a cat or owl.

squrrils because they are small and thin and can slip through the small gaps in branches and hedgehogs i think for the same reason and of course cover from bad weather
