Who will be more of a threat to the "American way of life" over the next decade? Immigrants or terrorists?

Terrorism is but not for obvious reason.

The threat to the US from terrorism is very small. However the Bush Administration is playing it up for all its worth so that it has a frightened compliant population that will accept anything.

Look at what has already passed into law because of "terrorism": the PATRIOT Act, allowing for a dramatic increase in Government snooping to people's lives; detention without trial even for US citizens; reduced environmental controls; the acceptance of torture.

The American way of life is based on ideas of freedom and equality. By stoking fear, the Bush administration is destroying that. That is the real threat.

Terrorists, because even if they do absolutely nothing, Americans will continue to see their loved ones injured and killed in wars justified by the fear of terrorism. Americans will continue to live with diminished civil rights and they will continue to see increasing social and political division fueled by the fear of terrorism.

And the terrorists don't have to lift a finger. They can just sit back and watch it happen.
