HI, your doctor said that your left side of your heart is larger than your right?, well the heart is broken down into 4 chambers left atrium and ventricle, as well as the right atrium and ventricle. So if he's saying that the left side is larger..that would mean that you have a hypertrophy which is simply saying your hearts muscle wall is larger on that side. There could be several reasons for this to happen, but generally your hearts working overtime to get the blood outside the heart and to the rest of your body. It would help to know your age, and if you had any congenital defects when you were born such as ventriclar septal defects or atrial septal defect, fallots tetralogy etc...i don't know if you'll know what that means but i guess if you don't what they mean then you most probably dont have it. Maybe you got long term hypertension, you gotta give us some more info so we can actually answer your question.

This is not neccessarily a life threatening diagnosis !!! Perhaps you can make an appointment with your GP and ask what it all means. You must have had some investigation in order to find out that your left side of your heart is larger ? GOOD LUCK !!!

Don't listen to those carping on about why you didn't ask the nurse. It can be a shock to hear something like that and we sometimes don't think to ask unitil we have had time to think about it. I'm not sure exactly what the implications are, but you could try and phone NHS direct, the number is 0845 45 45 - I think! If thats wrong then it will be in the book. They will be able to give you up to date info and advice, and will be able to reassure you.
Good luck!!

There is nothing wrong with your heart otherwise he would have said so, many people have minor heart defects or an irregular pulse and it does not affect their life's. myself included so relax
