Because People came up with the idea and it sold.
Has a magazine ever picked a sexiest woman alive? Which one?

That's life! There is always a double standard when it comes to the sexes. And People magazine should call it The Sexiest Man/Woman In The Music/Movie Industry. There are some really sexy people who are not in the industry. They are not picked. I always thought that list was silly cause being in the industry and being popular at the moment shouldn't dictate if one is sexy!

I dont quite consider them sexist, maybe they objectify people more, but it's not quite sexist. Plus, Maixm, FHM, Stuff, Playboy, whatever- they all pick out the sexiest woman of the year, along with calendars, pin ups, and more.
theres no double standard, it seems to be the same all around

Who says it's a double standard? I don't.

As far as I'm concerned, Sean Connery is the sexiest man alive. And, he IS James Bond. There are no inferior substitutes.

Both I consider to be sexest. It's just made more of a public fuss over the "sexiest woman" because women have historically been objectified in magazines as nothing more than sex-toys.

that all depends on the woman if she feels like it sexist. People magazine ain't the only one that does that!

2 Scorpio men that i might been with did have arm and leg hair yet almost no chest or returned hair. One had a receding hairline the different an entire head of hair. To be straightforward i think of it ought to be extra genetic that astrological.
