It can, if you leave it in there too long before getting it repaired. It is supposed to be used in an emergency, and you should go immediately to a tire repair shop.

I sell the stuff at the place I work. Fix a flat is a temporary fix only! It is meant only for emergencies. You should only drive your vehicle for a short distance to a nearby tire sho so that you can get it replaced. It can hurt your tire in the long run. it could clog your air valve so you wont be able to fill it up with air in the future.

Take your car to get it fixed asap, buddy... just like it says on the can.

It's not really an "inflater" it fills the tire with goop (technical term there). If left in the tire too long it will eventually settle and cause bad wear and poor driving ability. It's also a pain in the butt when you change out your tire, very messy (as I believe was stated above). You need to get your tire repaired ASAP if you have that goop in it.

It does as advertised, however the chemicals in it are toxic. A number of tire repair shops around here ask if you've used fix-a-flat on your tire if you're bringing it in for a repair/replacment and if you have, they won't touch it. Keep a donut spare or a full sized spare in your trunk, instead. Also if you leave it in your trunk for a long period of time, the cans have been known to create quite a mess in your trunk.

does fix a flat soften your tires?

ive heard from several car mechanics that it is a great TEMP. fix, but if continue to drive on it, it will eventually hurt your tire. i think the tubing or something inside... kind of eats away at it after awhile!
